First Aid

The majority of our staff are St John Ambulance trained First Aiders. Shifts are organised to ensure that we have first aiders on duty at all times during centre opening hours.

A public access defibrillator is available which is mounted on the column between Fraser Hart and Debenhams, in an emergency call 999 and they will provide you with both directions and the code to gain access to the locked cabinet.

Parent & Child Facilities

All restaurants and cafes within Culver Square Shopping Centre have their own toilet facilities.

Baby changing facilities are available in both the male and female public toilet located in Sir Isaac’s Walk.

Most stores in Culver Square Shopping Centre are ground floor only, giving easy access for prams and buggies.

Security

Culver Square provides you with a safe shopping experience. When visiting Culver Square don’t be surprised if one of our team approaches you if you are looking little lost or you look like you just need some assistance, they’re here to help. Our shopper’s safety is our number one priority, which is why we operate centre wide covert and overt security measures, including CCTV. This service is for your safety, to give you a great customer experience and for crime prevention.

Shopmobility

Colchester shopmobility is located at Winsley’s House on the High Street. It is open from 10am-4pm Monday to Friday.  For more information please click here

Toilets

Public toilet facilities including accessible toilets are located in Sir Isaac’s Walk.

The accessible toilet is fitted with radar lock, and is open from 9am to 6pm, Monday to Saturday and 10.30am to 4.30pm Sunday and bank holidays

General public toilets are open from 9am-5.00pm Monday to Saturday and 10:30am-4.00pm on Sunday and bank holidays.

Are there accessible toilet facilities available at Culver Square?

Yes. An accessible toilet is located in Sir Isaac’s Walk. It is fitted with a radar lock and open from 9am to 6pm, Monday to Saturday and from 10.30am to 4.30pm Sunday and bank holidays. Please be aware that Culver Square Shopping Centre including all toilet facilities is closed on Christmas Day and Easter Sunday.

What assistance is available to the centre for mobility restricted customers or families with pushchairs?

There are no steps into the centre and all public areas of Culver Square are accessible from ground level. Most stores in the Centre are ground floor only, giving easy access.

Are there blue badge holder or parent/child spaces available at the centre’s car park?

We don’t have our own car park, but the nearest ones to the centre are:

  • St Johns Car Park which has 14 blue badge holder bays. Blue badge holders have free parking for up to 3 hours (in any bay, when displaying a blue badge with the time clock set to time of arrival). Postcode for this car park is CO2 7HB.
  • Osborne Street NCP Car Park has 6 blue badge holder bays. Parking is free for blue badge holders but only when using a blue badge holder bay. If parked in a regular bay, the regular tariff and rules apply. Postcode for this car park is CO2 7DP.
  • Colchester High Street NCP Car Park has 15 blue badge holder bays. Parking is free for blue badge holders but only when using a blue badge holder bay. If parked in a regular bay, the regular tariff and rules apply. Postcode for this car park is CO1 1EJ
  • St Mary’s Car Park has 11 blue badge holder bays and 8 shopmobility bays. Blue badge holders have free parking for up to 3 hours (in any bay, when displaying a blue badge with the time clock set to time of arrival). Postcode for this car park is CO3 3AA.

What level of help can be offered by staff and security at Culver Square for people with specific needs?

Our team at Culver Square are pleased to be able to offer help and support to any customer who requests it. The centre team have received Autism training with Autism Anglia and have completed Alzheimer Society Dementia Awareness course becoming Dementia Friends.

Located near Clarks in Culver Square there is a prominent ‘Meeting Place’ painted onto one of the columns. If you are visiting the city you may wish to share this with your family and friends so if you get separated there is an easily found location to meet up.
