Colchester City Pipe Band Performance

Events — Colchester City Pipe Band Performance

20/06/2026 until 20/06/2026

Join us at Culver Square on Saturday 20th June from 4:40pm – 5:30pm for a special live performance from the Colchester City Pipe Band.

Formed in 2009 under the original name Colchester and District Pipes and Drums (CADPAD), the band has grown and evolved over the years while continuing to uphold its strong musical tradition. Although many players have come and gone, the band is still proudly led by Pipe Major Paul Young, whose leadership has helped shape its continued success.

Today, the band stands as Colchester’s only civilian pipe band, proudly representing the city both locally and on its travels across the UK and Europe.

Over the years, members of the band have taken part in a wide range of events and international performances. Highlights include participation in military tattoos and civic ceremonies, as well as the annual commemorations of Operation Market Garden in Arnhem, Holland, which the band has been honoured to attend for many years.

This summer, the band continues its busy schedule, with plans to travel to the Sulmona Giostra in Italy to represent Colchester at the famous medieval festival.

Before they head abroad, Culver Square is delighted to welcome the band for a special free performance in the heart of the city.

They are always looking for new members, whether experienced pipers or drummers or complete beginners interested in learning. Come along, enjoy the performance, and support a band that continues to represent Colchester!
