Events — How to Donate to Colchester Foodbank This Christmas

We won’t be able to run the Giving Tree in quite the same way as in previous years, but we are proud to continue supporting Colchester Food Bank to keep the festive spirit alive and continue supporting the same wonderful children – just in a slightly different way!
This year, instead of tags with children’s names, you’ll find a list of thoughtful gift ideas below. Your kindness and generosity will still make a big difference this Christmas!
There are lots of ways you can get involved and make a difference:
Donate Gifts
Colchester Food Bank relies on the generous support of our community to help families and individuals in need – not just with essential food and home items, but with a little festive magic too.
Drop your donations into our Giving Tree box located in Søstrene Grene at Culver Square (additional drop-off stations are located at the foodbank in Tollgate Retail Park and Everlast Gym, Clarendon Way).
Every donation, big or small, helps ensure families have what they need this winter. Last year, the community donated over 640 items and gifts, worth an estimated £11,000!
Donations will be accepted until 14th December.
What gifts can you donate?
- Toys
- Books and colouring books
- Puzzles and games
- Arts and crafts supplies
- Soft toys and dolls
- Stationery sets and notebooks
- Toiletry and pamper sets
- Socks, hats, scarves, and gloves
- Christmas treats and festive goodies (non-perishable)
Please do not wrap donations; this helps the Food Bank distribute gifts quickly and safely.
If you would prefer to donate something from the food bank advent list, we will also collect this on your behalf and make sure it reaches the food bank before Christmas.
Take Part in Our Festive Fundraiser
Join us on Saturday 6th December, for our brand-new challenge! Each go costs just £2, with all proceeds donated to Colchester Food Bank. Catch a golden token to be in with a chance of winning £250 to spend at Culver Square, plus plenty of instant-win prizes.
Come along and see what you can win; there are lots of festive surprises waiting, all while supporting a fantastic local cause.
Meet and Feed the Reindeer
From 2pm – 6pm on Saturday 13th December, come and meet our magical reindeer! You can purchase reindeer food, with all proceeds donated to Colchester Food Bank. While you’re here, learn fun facts about these wonderful festive animals and enjoy a magical experience for the whole family.
